Mrs. Evelyn Adunola, our esteemed founder, grew up immersed in the vibrant culture of the Yoruba people. Her late father, Chief S.A Oladapo, was the Lisa of the Ondo Kingdom —second in command to the king. Growing up in such a prestigious family, Evelyn was surrounded by the regal beauty of Aso Oke during numerous chieftaincy celebrations. These formative experiences instilled in her a deep appreciation for the artistry of Aso Oke.
Further nurturing her passion, Evelyn spent valuable years learning the trade from her grandmother, who dealt in these traditional heirlooms. This intergenerational transfer of knowledge and love for Aso Oke deepened her connection to her roots.
A Global Vision
After traveling abroad and exploring the international fashion scene, Evelyn realized that while laces and contemporary fabrics were popular, they lacked the durability and cultural significance of Aso Oke. They also quickly went out of style. This insight, coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit, inspired her to found Asho-oke.com.
